I just thought I would let you know a bit about mine and my little brothers bikes.
I'll start with mine, it is a chinese midi moto, it is a cats eye style bike with full electrics, lights electric start etc. The bike will do around 20mph standard but my bike is not standard.
It has a performance K&N style air filter with increased air intake through a small air intake pipe at the front of the bike. This gives a good increase in acceleration and about 3-5mph extra top end, a good buy for around a tenner, it also makes the bike sound better and gives it a lower pitch noise.
I hav also fitted a performance american exhaust which has given the bike a huge boost. It hit my acceleration like nothing else, and gave me an extra 6-10 mph on top. It was a great buy as I got it cheap at a tad under £40. It makes the bike sound like a proper bike and not so much like a moped.
On my bike I have a speedo which doesnt read the speed of the bike, it actually reads the rpm of the bike. When the bike was standard it could hit around 5000rpm. With the parts and minor modifiactions I have made it now rev at around 8000 rpm, this is an estimate as the rpm counter ends at 6000rpm.
The bike will now do around 30 - 35mph which may not seem quick compared to the other mini motos on the market but this bike is alot bigger and heavier. The bike is extremely powerful and has carried me and a friend (combined weight of just under 20 stone)up a hill at a reasonable speed.
The bike also has stunt pegs fitted at the rear so wheelies are easier to achieve and the person on the back has somewhere to rest their feet. The size of the bike is shown by the fact that it can comfortably fit 2 people on it.
Now onto my little brothers mini moto. It is a 49cc cag mini moto. standard will do 35 - 40 mph. Of course the bike is not standard and is actually heavily modified.
The modifications are as follows:
To start he has put a K&N style air filter on the bike.
He has also put a big bore exhaust on the bike for added performance.
The front and rear sprockets have been replaced for added performance (I can not give exact details as i dont know them) but the chain is also a heavy duty chain to cope with all the extra power.
Th reeds have been replaced with fibreglass reeds for extra acceleration.
It has an in line fuel filter which helped the bike as before the fuel would get blocked up.
The spark plug has been upgraded also so the bike runs at maximum performance at all times.
The bike is also fitted with tyres with some grip and not slicks, this is for better control of the bike. It also means it can be used in the wet.
All these modifications have added extreme performance to the bike and altogether costed an awful lot aswell. Although it was worth it, the bike is extremely reliable and powerful now, it can easily beat me in all areas.
I predict that the bike can do around 50mph. It comfortably overtook my uncles car while he was doin around 45mph.
