Police in Bristol have come up with an idea to try to show people what will happen if they ride their mini motos on the road or off road on common land.

Police recovered the bike in April at the Hengrove airfield site, where, when patrolling, they spotted a motorcyclist. When the police approached the rider abandoned the bike. The bike was then recovered as a suspected stolen vehicle.

The bike was a KTM off road mini bike and was worth an estimated £2000, and had had less then ten hours use! After extensive enquiries the owner of the bike was never found and the bike has now been crushed.

However instead of just destroying the bike and disposing of it, Police decided they would keep the bike and store it in a perspex container, taking it around to schools and putting it on show in order to show the public what will happen to their bikes if they use them illegally.

Police have high hopes for thios shock tactic and believes it will put many people off riding their bikes ilegally.
