Govt's flawed policy may cause more mini moto deaths

Government as you may well know due to the recent media coverage are cracking down on mini moto use throughout the country.

The tactics they are using are to train a specialist team of off road motorcycle riders to chase the mini motos on their Suzuki DRZ400s.

However, from an inside contact from the motorcycle industry we have had reports that the Police are training these riders on an off road facility in the north, one observer of this training has said it is 'generally poor, a danger to themselves and anyone else in their way'.

The police already have some records of when chases of illegal drivers or riders has ended in an accident, sometimes fatal. So if we take this argument, i feel that a team of overweight police officers on high powered off road motorcycles riding at speed around estates will clearly cause more tragic endings.

The mini moto riders are also very likely to flee through shopping precincts and on public footpaths in order to ditch the cops, will the police follow them? If they dont then the kids will escape easily and the plans are pointless, if the police will follow them, soon enough a police officer on his motorbike is going to knock over and potentially kill an innocent citizen.

So Mr Reids plan isnt as good as we all first thought and i dont believe will be as succesful as he would wish, but only time will tell.
