The EU (European Union) have called a crack down on illegal mini bikes, they are trying to stop the mini bikes being imported as they believe many of these are illegal and are not allowed to be in the country.
The EU have classed these bikes as unsafe to use, and have put the mini-combustible engined bikes on the EU's alert list of unsafe products, and have stated that alot of these bikes are being imported ilegally.
They have commented on how they believe that these bikes are being specifically targeted at the younger generation due to their size and the speeds which they can reach, however are not toys, and are unsafe and can cause death.
The EU have tried to withdraw any mini bikes which they believe are illegal and stop these being imported, also improving the overall testing of the machines before being put on sale.
The bikes that are being imported are not at a high enough standard to be able to have the "CE" safety label on them, meaning they can not be sold anywhere in the 25 - nation bloc.
They have stated that when testing the bikes they have found many safety problems with the bikes and also have found many major design and construction defects meaning these are bikes are unsafe for anyone to use.
