Mini bike firm goes bust

A mini bike firm in greater manchester was guilty of bringing thousands of unsafe mini bikes into the country and has therefore been puit out of business.

The machines which were shipped in from China did not meet British safety regulations.

The owner, Matthew Pipe was hauled in front of the courts and fined after he admitted he was supplying unsafe bikes.

Pipe's business has now gone into liquidation and around 2,000 mini bikes were confiscated and crushed.

When the warehouse of the company was raided suspension orders were put on 2,700 machines which added to the value of around £500,000!

Hundred were also issued with recall notices to try to recover some of the dangerous bikes from the innocent public who bought them, some of these bikes were selling for around £900.

Some of the faults with the bike which meant that they were unsafe to ride included unguraded chains, poor welding, no speed limit device, fuel leaks and no suspension to name a few.
