Another child has died due to mini motos. David DeLatorre was 13 and got given his third mini moto for his 13th birthday.
However, the bike was to be the cause of his death on the monday after his birthday. David left to ride his mini moto at around 7.30 pm. David was riding his mini moto, not far from his house, after he hit a small ridge or obstacle in the road causing him to lose control and collide with a parked vehicle.
After colliding with the car David was rushed to the hospital via ambulance and was treated for head injuries, however David died at around 9.10 pm.
David was not wearing a helmet, which could well have saved his life! Davids sister said that her parents often told David not to go out on the bike without a helmet but this advice was not taken on board.
Last year alone, there were 71,100 injuries involving motorized toys, such as scooters, nationwide in America, according to the Florida Public Interest Research Group.
Davids dad believed that David was safe as he was riding his mini moto around the neighbourhood and no further, however he did not realise how unsafe these vehicles were and how these vehicles were illegal!
