Police and residents in Eastover are complaining about the illegal use of mini motos in Cranleigh Gardens, residents have said that mini motos are screeching around the park at speeds of around 30 mph as they race around the perimeter path and use it as a race track.
One weekend the residents near the park had to endure 7 hours of this illegal mini moto racing which eventually led to a police chase involving the mini motos, almost causing a teenage girl to be knocked over by the mini moto riders.
Police in the area have already seized and destroyed 12 of the machines but youths still persist to use them illegally.
Police are warning parents of the risks of these bikes and are going around to shops and schools in the area pointing out the laws concerning these bikes in a bid to cut down on their use before the summer months.
The bikes are only allowed to be used on private land with the owners permission and therefore should not be used on any form of public footpath.
With the recent announcement of the local council that a cycle track will be put around the gardens police fear that this will also be used as a race track and make the problem worse.
A meeting was held locally as police and residence fear someone is going to get seriously injured by these mini motos.
