mini moto park crackdown

Mini motos are, as we all know, illegal when ridden in a public place such as parks or footpaths. This is why Police and trading standards will target hotspots where these bikes are used in order to crackdown on this anti social behaviour.

In a separate operation trading standards seized many bikes off a trader in Salford as these bikes were deemed unsafe to use, and did not meet regulations. The value of the bikes which were seized came to a total of over £500,000.

Signs will be put up in the worst affected areas by Police. These signs will warn riders that if they use their bikes illegally then Police have the powers to remove these from you and crush them.

Putting these signs up is an instant warning to everyone, which means that Police can prosecute first time offenders rather then giving them a warning and waiting until they offend again before confiscating and crushing their bikes.

Police in Salford have said that curbing the use of mini motos in Albert Park has been a priority for a while, with many illegal riders choosing to take their mini motos there to ride.

They have also said that in November they confiscated three bikes, which was a great success and they have said that the new signs work very well.

Signs are not the only way which Salford officials are cracking down on the illegal use of off road bikes, they are also putting up posters in bus shelters and public places, as well as giving out leaflets to each door and around the streets which will inform the public of what to do if they wish to make a complaint about illegal mini moto riding.

These plans are set to make a huge difference to the number of illegal bikes being ridden in the area.
