Police in Lake crystal were involved in a low speed chase early one saturday morning.
The chase started as a downtown wipeout and ended in a low speed chase where the potentially drunk rider was shoved off the mini moto. After Lake crystals duck day a pub was emptying for the night when police got a report of a motorcycle wiping out at the intersection.
The driver of a 5hp 'Mini Baha' minibike was picking up his minibike and starting to drive away when police arrived.
The minibike had no rear lights and also no registration plate so police followed the rider into a nearby car park. The 42 year old, later identified as Douglas Lee Menne, had a brief stop when the bike cut out, and he tries to start it again, after this persisted through the car park.
The chase continued down Hunt street at around 25 mph, the minibike being followed by the police car which was flashing and blasting out its sirens, to which the rider failed ti stop.
Wersal, the police officer, pulled up beside menne and yelled at him to stop, when he failed to do this wasel pulled his car infront of the bike and the chase slowed to around 10 mph.
When this also failed to work Wersal said he fired his tazer out of his window of which 1 dart made contact but fell out.
However the effort slowed meene right down, anough so that Wasel was able to leave his squad car and chase on foot, eventually shoving menne off the bike.
The rider was then arrested with the help of another deputy.
Menne was jailed later that morning and released later that night after posting a $12,000 bail.
The Charges included driving while intoxicated and, possibly, fleeing police.
