pensioner hit by mini motos

Police in Wirksorth were alarmed when they heard about an elderly women being knocked over and two bones broken by mini motos.

The 71 year old pensioner was walking along an overgrown track off Porter Lane in Wirksworth early on Friday afternoon, when she was involved in an accident with a group of passing youths on mini-motos.

The police do not yet know wether the women was struck by the mini moto riders themselves or just fell in a bid to move out of the way for the vehicles, althought it is suspected that she was hit due to the injuries received.

The women suffered a broken foot and a fractured knee during the incident is currently being cared for in the Royal hospital in chesterfield.

The women was walkin towards railway sidings near to steeple grange when around 4 or 5 youths passed her causing the accident.

Police in the area had not encountered an incident like this before but say it outlines the problems faced with the illegal use of these mini motos.

The elderly women had to walk home by herself and atteded the hospital the next day, still in pain from the incident.
