Police in Farnworth are urging residents to help them to combat the illegal use of mini motos and similar vehicles.
The neighbourhood policing team in the area have labelled people riding mini motos, trials bikes and pit bikes illegally as a big concern, one which needs to be dealt with.
Residents are helping by giving police descriptions of bikes which are being ridden illegally as well as names and addresses of the people which are riding these bikes.
When someone is seen riding a bike illegally residents of the area have been asked to call the police right away, giving a description of the bikes which are being ridden, who by and most importantly where these people live.
It is common knowledge now that riding vehicles such as mini motos, mini bikes, quad bikes, , pit bikes and go peds is illegal unless they are usedon private land with the owners permission. If they are used on the road then the owners must be over 16, hold the correct lisence, have insurance, a vaild MOT, tax and the bike must be registered.
If this is not the case then the owners face their bikes being confiscated and crushed, as well as leaving them with points on their lisence and a fine.
