Girl aged 7 dies on mini moto

Natasha Blanchard, seven, was killed after riding a mini moto through her garden and crashing it inside the family garage.

The machine was borrowed from neighbours, the bike was about 2 foot high and had a capacity of 29cc.

Paul Thompson, Natashas father, rode the bike around the garden to ensure that the throttle and brakes were ok before letting Natasha on the bike. Mr Thompson said he walked round te garden with natasha riding to his side, until they stopped facing the garage whilst Mr Thompson went indoors to get a helmet.

Mr Thompson has said he looked outside to see his daughter ride straight into the garage and into a pine cabinet at the back.

Mr Thompson said he then ran into the garage, and seeing his daughter was badly injured he picked her up, whilst she patted him on the back and told him 'its ok daddy'.

Natasha was taken to hospital but the decision was later made to turn off her life support machine.

A vehicle examiner found no faults with the mini moto.
