A few weeks ago in Hertsmere several mini motos were crushed in the ongoing campaign against the illegal use of mini motos in this country.
Ten mini motos were crushed in total at a scrap yard off Oakridge lane, in Aldenham. Heavy cutting equipment was used to crush the bikes into a cube. Police are hoping this recent sesison will again warn youths in the area of how serious the police are when dealing with this situation. It is hoped that people wil now understand that riding these bikes illegally i.e. with out taking correct safety measures or without correct documentation will lead to their bikes getting crushed and other serious measures.
Campaigns have been launched in the area to inform young people about the laws which are associated with these bikes, and how they are treated as motorcycles when ridden on the road and therefore must be ridden with the correct documentation such as a valid MOT certificated, insurance and road tax.
There is a time after the bikes have been confiscated where if a fee is paid then the bikes will be returned, however due to the small cost of these bikes now, most people will not pay the fee and allow the bikes to be crushed.
